How to combine photos, Word files, and Excel sheets into one PDF
Published · FileForge
A submission pack rarely arrives as one tidy document. You might have receipts as photos, a letter in Word, a spreadsheet summary, and an existing PDF attachment. FileForge Create PDF brings supported files together into one ordered download without uploading the source material.
Prepare the source material
Gather the supported files and give them readable names before adding them. Create PDF accepts existing PDFs, common images, DOCX documents, PPTX presentations, text, CSV, and supported spreadsheets. A legacy Word DOC or PowerPoint PPT file is not the same as DOCX or PPTX; export it to a supported format first.
Decide what belongs in the pack and remove unnecessary pages or private details before assembling it. Existing PDF files are copied as pages, while office files are rebuilt into readable pages. If an exact office layout is essential, export that file to PDF in its original application before adding it.
Set the reading order and structure
Open Create PDF, add the files, and use the file-order controls to arrange them. The preview strip helps identify the sequence, but it is not a full review of every page or a page-by-page editor for each source. For individual pages in an existing PDF, use Delete Pages or Extract Pages first.
Choose A4 or Letter for newly created pages and decide whether to include a cover, section headings, and page numbers. Use a short, meaningful title for the cover. Existing PDF pages can retain their original sizes, so mixed source documents may still produce a pack with different page dimensions.
Understand how office files become pages
Word text is reflowed into a clean document rather than reproduced as an exact Word layout. PowerPoint slides become pages with text and supported images, not a presentation with transitions or animations. Check text order, image placement, and any content that depends on a complex layout.
Spreadsheets become tables with headers and page breaks. Wide sheets, long cell contents, and elaborate formatting need careful review. Treat the result as a sharing copy of the sheet, not a live workbook: formulas, charts, macros, and interactive workbook behavior do not become working PDF features. Text rendering also has limitations for non-Latin scripts in this builder.
Review readability and file size
Run the builder, download the PDF, and open it in a PDF reader. Check the cover, section boundaries, page numbers, spreadsheet columns, and small print in photos. Keep the source files so you can correct one item without losing the rest of the pack.
Large phone photos can dominate the output size. If a portal has an attachment limit, resize or compress the photos first and check that receipts, dates, and totals remain readable. Combining files is not automatically compression, and a smaller PDF is not a success if important detail disappears.

Frequently asked questions
- Will my Word layout look exactly the same?
- Not necessarily. The builder reflows DOCX text. Export to PDF in Word first when exact layout matters.
- Can I remove individual pages in the builder preview?
- The builder preview shows file order. Use Delete Pages or Extract Pages on a source PDF before adding it when you need page-level selection.
- Does a spreadsheet stay editable in the PDF?
- No. It becomes static table pages, not a working Excel workbook.
